April 27th - St. Zita of Lucca

St. Zita dedicated her life to serving the Sagrati family, starting at a young age and continuing until her passing. Raised in a religious household, she internalized the values of obedience and hard work from a tender age. Zita's commitment to her role as a servant was unwavering, and she believed that true piety was reflected in industriousness. Despite facing challenges and hostility from her peers, Zita's kindness and generosity towards the less fortunate never wavered.

Towards the end of her life, St. Zita found solace in contemplation and acts of charity, particularly towards those in dire circumstances like prisoners facing execution. Her selfless dedication to helping others and her unwavering faith were evident until her peaceful passing. Zita's legacy of compassion, hard work, and devotion to God continues to inspire many to this day.

Her body is incorrupt and located in Basilica de San Frediano in Lucca, Italy. Wikipedia lists describe some of the different diseases and damage to her body that tests have shown, revealing a life of much suffering and pain.
